Jean Chalvidant

Jean Chalvidant, a Doctor in Spanish civilization, is the specialist for Spain and Latin America at the MCC, the French research department for Contemporary Criminal Threats (Institute of Criminology/Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas).

During his long career as a journalist, he covered the end of the Franco era and the change to democracy for RMC, and the international media consider him as the top French authority on the ETA terrorist group. His book "ETA, the Investigation" which was published in December 2003 by Editions Cheminements, has become the reference work on the subject, in France as well as in Spain, where it was published under the title "ETA, la Investigacion" by Editions Jaguar, in December 2004.

Following the March 11, 2004, criminal explosions in Madrid, he published "The Manipulation, Madrid, March 11" in May with Cheminements, and at the same date in Spanish under the title "11-M, la manipulacion" with Jaguar. The book goes into the reasons behind the crime and uncovers the political plot which made the Spanish socialist party win the elections, using the "State lies" excuse.

Followed in September  by "Mikel & Soledad" (Editions Atlantica-Séguier) written with Gracianne Hastoy, a novel about the life of ETA leader Mikel Antza and her companion Soledad, alias Anboto.

Then, in January 2006, "Spain, from Franco to Zapatero", at Editions Atlantica, under the guise of a dictionary, covering the last fifty years of Spanish politics, from the death throes of the Franco régime, the rise of democracy, the failure of centrism, the power take-over  by the socialists then by the right, until the unexpected election of Zapatero, three days after the Atocha murders.

He is the customary guest and reference of French and foreign television channels on the current events in Spain, whether on TF1, France 2, France 3, Canal +, Arte, La 6, LCI and I-Television, on which he appeared more than 50 times in 2004, but also on radio networks (RTL, Europe 1, France Inter, France Info, RFI, RMC, Sud Radio, Voice of America), and in the written press.

In addition to being an expert in economical performance in the field of marketing, he is the co-author of the book "Practical Guide of Cost reduction" which was published in October 2003. This is the only book which was published in France on this topic and was published in association with the Cost House Cabinet.

On a lighter theme, he is the author of "La belle histoire des groupes français de rock des années soixante" ("the beautiful story of the French Rock 'n' Roll groups of the Sixties"), which was published in December 2001, where he rediscovered the forgotten heroes of the French Rock'n'Roll saga.
